just exchanged my american ranger blanket, woodland camo poncho, cotton sleeping bag liner, for the new cadpat thermal blanket; basically i bigger version of the ranger blanket, same material, only its cadpat, an it zipps up to make a sleeping bag liner, an a hole in the middle that you can unzip to stick your head through an wear it like a poncho, see how it works when in california for sierra marauder, also another brilliant idea was to have us turn in our woodland camo poncho, for an olive drab one, which as a heads up when first issues litterly reeks like puke or somethin strong enough to have to wash a few times to get rid of the smell, personally, i felt the ranger blanket was one of the best pieces of kit issued

ah equipment forum....havent been on this site in a while didnt even know there was an equipment forum

how is the thermal blanket in the field? does it live up to all the standards that the fieldies have set for it? Ive issued so many, and i havent seen one in action yet :(

Thermal, eh? New, eh? Blanket, eh? This is the first I've heard of this piece of kit, is it only reg force issue right now or are the reserves expecting them soon? Where can I find out more about the design etc?

Wow, four sentences and not one period...  ;D

Cheers,
Pinky

Someone should develop OFFPAT - office worker pattern cam.  A unique blend of paper clips, coffee cups, hole punchers and in-baskets most people spend their time with.  Be a big hit in Ottawa.  You know how everyone blend in on that "You're a Hell of a man doing a Hell of a job" advert?  That sort of thing.

Tom

Damn ive been waiting for one of these for oh so long lets hope it trickles through the system quickly

We had it, Garrison dress with those stupid boots and that hopless cam pattern silly smock. I hated that. Waht a dirty great big gianrt waste of millions that scheme was, no doubt thought of by another NDHQ weenie, justifiying his over paid job, then another weenie to shit can the whole lot. Go figure ::)

Oh, and yes I am still EXTEREMLY keen to do a 1 for 1 with an AUSCAM poncho liner, its new here and waiting for you. Come on Brin11   ;D

Cheers,

Wes

I still have a few of those Garrison Duck Hunting Jackets.  I use them to wear out to the outhouse at the log cabin.  I think they still have the 4CMBG and 1 Cdn Div flashes on them.  Still got my jump smock from 1984, come to think of it. But, I digress (again).

So, this new piece of kit, does it stink like the ground sheet does?

"Are you talking about the new sleepimg bag liner?"

- Good morning.  Yes we are.  The thread is only eleven freakin messages long, and a 1 Tp Para lad like youself couldn't 'Recce' to the top of the page?  You have besmirched us all.  Oh, the shame of it.  I may have to remuster to mess tin repairperson, or something. ;D

OOOOOOOOOOO, the pain.
It was just how the first post was put. Smells?, I knew that Canadian green so called ranger blanket did. No Tom, you don't have to remuster, just no bare a55 junps for me. Maybe a lil extra PT to go along with it.
Dave

Extra PT?  Gravy is a beverage! ;D

We will shortly begin exchanging our old Poncho Liner and Liner Sleeping Bag for the new piece of kit in Wainwright.  Once our clothing docs reflect this exchange complete, we will not be able to walk into a QM and exchange "Extra" Poncho Liners and SB Liners for "more" of the new pieces of kit.

Last I heard or seen is that the blanket is only issued to those in Cbt arms units...alas none for this medic, reg force or not.
