Is it just me or has the media coverage of our guys in afghanistan been lacking.I see more news on iraq and what the US is doing then i see about our own guys.
Am i missing something? Where do you guys look for updates?

The National Post seems to have the monopoly on the OP ATHENA news since one of its reporters is "embedded" with the force.

Yeah National Post/Global is pretty much the only place to get info. And even then I think its lacking...or maybe I just don‘t watch enough TV.

Ok,I didnt looked at the National Post yet. Thanks for the headsup about the embedded journalist, that could be intresting. Thanks

While journalists tend not to know much about the military or its culture and operation, I think that having them embedded with an operational unit overseas is a good way of giving them first hand experience about how the military works. God knows that they‘re hated for overblowing the Somalia incident, but leaving them out of military operations isn‘t going to help make them understand the Canadian Forces. As long as they follow the rules, and stay out of the way when need be, I have no problem with embedded journalists.

Compared to the last 10 yrs with UNPROFOR, Somalia, even the Gulf War... :threat:

We are under intense media scrutiny compared to then.... :soldier:

I wish they have more news, especially about living conditions, and what its actually like being there... :)

Anyone seen anything on TV in the last 2 yrs (except for that R&R death, or as a side bar for other deployments) about OP Palladium and what the guys there are doing?

About imbedded journalists, I don‘t know if they were with the Bg for training, but they should have been.
