Next Roto...

the next one is probably going to be to afghanistan i believe their work up training just ended before the holidays and they are just waiting to be sent over either mid to end january or beginning of feb.

ISAF Task Force Kabul Roto 3 is deploying from Petawawa end Jan to Mid Feb.

They got some good training for this roto. With that replica of camp julien and all those serials run for two weeks. I hear that roto 4 will have bigger amount of troops so they'll be sending people from more than 1 brigade.

Is it known how many support personell are being sent?

I am specifically interested in the wepons technicians, to give me an Idea of what kind of deployments, and what the chances are of getting those deployments, after signing up and being placed with a unit.

Thanks
-Nic

Roto 3 for Afghanistan is roughly 700 pers, u've got NSE, NCE, FP Coy, Eng Sqn, and Armd/Recce Sqn... IMHO, too much NSE and not enough infanteers, (ref: only 2 platoons in our company)
our beloved CLS blatantly told our OC that we should use troops from the lodging nations for camp security as opposed to sending the 3rd and in my eyes vitally important platoon

Yes cheeky monkey you may be right but step back for a second and think of the day the government and NDHQ in all their infinite wisdom might actually put mission requirement and common sense before the almighty dollar. If you had only seen the training that goes on in the real Army, (TMST Trg in Pet for Roto 3: Supporting Trades don't cut it once the perverbial excrement hits the air circulating device) one might see the need for more rounds, more time in the veh,  more days on the range, actual beneficial trg instead of the endless 'bang bang' scenarios. Even with current budgetary restraints it doesn't take a blind man to realize that what the CF's idiotic beauracratic masters are doing is tearing away vital threads in the fabric of cbt arms... Look at what has happened in the Infantry, we've lost Mortar Pl (to artillery, a decent switch if we can still actually get close support), Pioneer Pl(see last) and Anti-Armour Pl( to the new Moblile Gun System of LAV based 105's, TOW, and ADATS) when will we see practical use of these new concepts, and when in the name of god will we see more bayonets on the ground in lieu of the Rear Echelon Types who so very much need a good kick in the @#$ so far as actual soldiering skillsets are concerned.

Does anyone know where the next Roto will be deploying from, who, when, where, what type of mission?

As stated.... Op Athena TFK Roto 3 from 2 CMBG Petawawa is OPRED and is on Predeployment Leave.

Seems pretty solid that Roto 4 will be coming from here as well as my Sister Squadron is starting to nail together a TO&E.

Nevertheless, there will be allot of shiney new cars on the streets of Petawawa in 06 :D

I have a very dear friend in Kabul right now.  Do they ever get the chance to check their e-mails?  I don't want to say his name but he is on ROTO 3 and I would dearly love to hear from him.  Is there a general mailing address to Camp Julien. I assume he is in Camp Julien...He's an MP.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If he just got there, it will take some time to set up his email account.
