Paper notebooks of various types that are impervious to water. The tactical filed book had grid squares and a fill in the blank call for fire card.

Hooahhs field towels replaces those baby wipes.

Gortex Stealth Suit(expensive, but worth every penny) and a Ridge Rest(inexpensive, and worth every penny).

Ridge Rests = civy mattress...not inflatable...just soft foam that folds up.

...Oh, a Roll Mat  ;)
Cheers for the clarification!
This maybe considered a "soft" thing to have as a nice item. But I know those pocket warmers are nice to have stuffed inside your gloves on a cold day.

For winter ex's nothing beats a nice little white fuel stove. They run off naptha, just like the issue stuff, so they're free to use :P

CP's old CADPAT recce patrol bag...

Like a nuke bag but bigger, this bag has a padded back panel, awesome shoulder straps (like the 82 ruck) and waist belt, has radio flaps on the lid for running wires, antennas or hydration tubes, and a 522 radio shelf built inside. I've used this as a signaller (instead of the busted-ass Manpack) and found it a joy to carry the 522. This pack is also great if you're a C6 or C9 gunner. It has a lot of attachment points for pockets (if that's your thing) or you can use them to strap the spare barrel with valise straps.

Great bag...the only thing that might be better is the new Small Pack for the TV (which is actually almost a twin to this bag!)
