I seem to never have much energy, and it's really putting a damp on my Physical training lately. I have about a month before i leave for BMQ, so i've been working on getting into better shape before hand. But the problem is i hardly ever have alot of energy. I have a hard time falling asleep so i tend to sleep in longer, and when i wake up i have no energy. I usually have a protein shake with yogurt and fruit mixed in, and that gives me abit of a boost to start my day.
I don't drink coffee and im not a fan of energy drinks, so does anyone have some other tips for me for gaining some energy?

Trust me when i say that sleeping in will not be an issue on BMQ

Falling alseep at night will not be a problem either

I'm talking about right now, i'm not worried about sleeping during BMQ.

The problem is now while im getting into shape

Eat properly. Don't replace actual meals with shakes.
After a bunch of greasy pizza, the next day l feel really drained.

Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Drink water, etc.

lf you're pushing yourself to your limits, you might want to give yourself a day or two rest to let your body fully recover from what you're doing to it.

Guess you will just have to take a hammer and knock yourself out cold.......

You might have a low level of iron in your blood... eat things like beef liver (I know its gross, but its high in iron) and spinach a couple times a week to bring your iron level up, or find a supplement from the drug store to do the same.  If your iron levels drop low enough, you can become anemic, and one of the symptoms is a low energy level.  I had this problem as well, but it turns out I'm just lazy.  Remember, Iron helps us play!

So.....

Liver & spinach or hammer

I know which one i would pick

Not much of a competition there, is there...

If you really have no energy, it might be worthwhile to visit your doctor to find out if there is a physical reason. Are you overweight? If so, you might have sleep apnea, which would interfere with your getting a good nights sleep and and then you would wake up tired. But it could be anything.

I'll update on this since its been awhile. Now that i've been back working out 5-6 days a week again, my energy levels are quite high and my problem is mostly fixed. I just have to work on falling asleep faster, as it takes me quite awhile.

Thanks for the ideas again, but i've yet to try the hammer  ;D

Eat more protein, (lean protein). If you can't sleep at night, boil  a pot of chamomile tea and add lots of hot milk (hot milk releases sleepy time enzymes, chamomile is relaxing.)

In the morning, drink a cup of detoxifying green tea with an extra egg white. Green tea is really amazing for energy. You'll turn into a powerhouse with a little green tea and some extra protein. Take Centrum Performance Multivitamin (specially formulated for energy and vitality). I had the same problem with sleep and energy, and you can drink the whole pot of green tea because there's not too much caffeine in it (if you're caffeine sensitive). This'll make you feel like a powerhouse when you get into your workout. At least for me.  ;D

10 tips for better sleep

If you are eating well, drinking 6-8 glasses of water, getting 6-8 hrs of sleep at night, and you still feel tired, then you are prob over training.

If you know what your normal resting heart rate is, then try this....over the next week, before you get out of bed, lay thee for 1 minute and take your heart rate before you put your feet on the floor.

If it is raised by more then average 10 beats per minute, then you are definitely overtraining. Slow down. You need 1 or 2 rest days per 7 days to maintain a training schedule.

Other then that, try a daily multivitamin, with iron.

I buy my multivitamins at Costco. Costco's Kirkland brand vitamins good quality at a good price.
I take a multivitamin and a vitamin C , 500mg, each day.

I use Melatonin supplements. It is a natural health product that you can buy at any pharmacy. It puts me to sleep in about 30 min, and as far as I know there is no risk of dependency.

I am not a doctor however; use this advice at your own risk.

Good luck on your BMQ.  :salute:

yeah i buy those exact same ones at costco, you get a huge load of em and theyre pretty cheap, and they have what you need.

I've always stayed away from sleeping pills or things like that, i've been to afraid to take a risk getting dependent on them, especially since i have an addictive personality.
I usually drink herbal sleepytime tea before bed, or listen to some ultra relaxing music on my ipod.
