On the Canadian application form it asks and says "A member of a visible minority group is a person (other than an Aboriginal person as defined above) who is non-white in race/colour, regardless of place and birth. Are you a member of a visible minority group in Canda.

I don't see why they have to ask me if i'm white or other  ???. Can anyone clarify why this information is needed to join the army?

I'm pretty sure it's just for statistical reasons.  I don't think it means much more than that.

Cheers

Demographic statistics perhaps - everyone loves those. It won't matter anyways, just put what you are and be done with it. Admittedly, I found it kind of confusing. I'm half Mexican and half Australian -does that make me Hispanic? Caucasion? Can anyone tell?

If in doubt, put white.

If you read carefully, there is a blurb on the application about "for human resources purposes only".
