Ok so this may be a relatively stupid question but I can't really find an actual answer.
I'm planning on taking the online biology degree program offered by Thompson rivers university (accredited) in British colombia. In the end of I pass all the courses i will be granted a bachelor of science with a major in biology. This program is 100% at your own pace so I would probably complete it in less then 4 years. My question is would this degree be accepted as good enough to directly enter the army as an infantry officer? Meaning would they be ok with this degree or would they want me to attend university again?

Good day Jamie2319,

To apply to the Forces you must have passed Grade 10 or Secondaire IV (in Quebec). However, a number of the jobs available require high school diplomas, college certificates, or university degrees.

The Forces will consider applicants who have passed a General Education Development (GED) test. However, applicants from Quebec who have a GED must also have the necessary credits from Secondaire IV.

Adults who have not completed high school can submit an Attestation of Secondary School Equivalency, but it is not considered equivalent to a high school diploma.

If you have been home-schooled, you will need to provide proof from your home province’s educational authority that your marks have been assessed and meet their standards.

If you attended and graduated high-school, college or university in another country, you may need to have your education evaluated by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada to determine if it is equivalent to the education provided in Canada. The Forces will not pay for the cost of the evaluation.

If you have completed college or university, or have skilled work experience, you may qualify to have your military and occupational training reduced. In these cases, the Forces will complete a Prior Learning Assessment (PLAR).

Therefore Jamie2319 a review of your official academic transcripts provided to us by you upon the completion of your degree as part of the application process will determine if your education meets the requirements of your chosen occupation and entry plan.

It's the "Ask a CAF Recruiter" thread and I try and not venture into this area but I will just for your special benefit.

How many times have you submitted an application to the CF?  Have you even written the CFAT/TSD?

Stop wasting everyone's time or I will sick the MODS on you!!!    :salute:

Seriously? I applied once, but I was going to call to get the application terminated if they would accept the online course... Can someone answer this question then...what's the point of this website because so far every question I have asked has been answered with sarcasm and ignorance, that's why I have to ask multiple times...is the website ran by a bunch of 20 year old trolls? Block me I could care less this website has been completely useless to me and several other people. You people need to be rude to get your days excitement and it's sad, I sincerely feel
Bad for all of you:)
Have a good day!

Good day Jamie2319,

The questions that you have asked can easily be answered with a little research of information available using the search function at the top of this sight of by visiting our recruiting website.

For the ROTP program Successful candidates enroll into the CAF as Officer Cadets and attend the Royal Military College of Canada, or le Collège militaire royal de St-Jean, or an approved Canadian University, or an affiliated College. Therefore Jamie2319 no the CAF does not include online university courses as having admission to an approved Canadian University.
