Ontario Government (Conservative majority), 2025-29

From the above article:

Stiles used the last Question Period of the year to continue to hammer the government on the Skills Development Fund, a $2.5 billion jobs fund that has been under a cloud over how money was doled out.

The auditor general found the process was not fair, transparent or accountable, and that Labour Minister David Piccini’s office overrode bureaucrats, elevating lower-scoring applications above others.

Some one playing favourites?

The Liberals meanwhile repeated their call for the government to sell off its stash of U.S. booze. The products have been in storage after being pulled from LCBO shelves in March over the U.S. trade war.

In storage for almost eight months and may be reaching their expiry date, after which the booze would have to be poured down the drain. At least the folks out in the Maritimes are selling their stuff to raise money for charities.

How does Bourbon or Vodka go bad?

Beer and wine will go bad. Liqueur can go bad due to the amount of sugar and flavourings.

Liquor (rum, vodka, whisky, whiskey, etc) left sealed will last almost forever. Once opened and depending on the spirit, it doesn’t really go bad, per se. Different liquors will change taste and lose potency (alcohol) due to evaporation, over different periods of time. Stored in dark, cool cabinets helps slow this process. Liquor will continue to age and change while still in barrels. Once it's bottled, it stops aging.

Dougie - dreaming big. First tunnels under the 401, now Niagara Falls rivalling Vegas with a greatly enlarged airport to boot.

Sometimes Dougie reminds me of Mel Lastman, pre-boiling pot and Cannibals.

Reminds me of something Mayor Lastman said about his brother ( may he rest in peace) when the brothers were at City Hall.

"I'm not a genius, obviously, but he makes me look like one".

Fairly big step in the right direction. Ford's been using his personal devices over the years for government related work to skirt around things.

This could have significant ramifications for the whole governmental sector.

Best we can do is limit the retention period for Teams chats to ten calendar days to avoid access to information requests.
Meanwhile I literally sent my IT crew a request saying “hey can we please get a proper print to PDF function for TEAMS so I can be compliant with my need to capture and file operationally relevant material, without having to manually screenshot a whole chat page by page?”

CAF should be issuing a smartphone to every member for anything duty related.

For reference to the discussion

From the Military Administration forum,

What's old is new again. Personal phones, personal emails, it seems politicians like to play fast and loose with 'accountability'. The previous Liberals were caught deleting email records.

With Ford, there could be some interesting chats with developers. Obviously, he has appealed.

I haven't found it hard to get a phone, just need the boss to sign-off on you needing it for work.

Much of the business being conducted on personal devices is done out of convenience, not necessity. I suspect that is often the case with businesses and politicians as well.

Aaaaand they're off!!!!!!!!!! Team Red Ontario picking a new leader 21 November.

NCE - Not Conservative Enough (according to many supporters of Team Blue I deal with).

As opposed to the "still learning to not be the attack dog all the time" incumbent? On that front, I'd see people buy in.

On the other hand, if he's serious about wanting to grab the brass ring for Team Blue Ottawa Franchise, he needs to be more convincing about "seriousness/gravitas" -- wanting to be a national instead of a provincial leader. There's public info as of last summer saying he's back to taking French post-COVID ...

So the Premier of Ontario who spends all his time trying to be the Mayor of Toronto wants to be the Prime Minister of Canada?

No thanks.

He's been a better premier than most that I have seen over 20+ years of watching politics. When faced with backlash against an unpopular and frivolous choice, he adjusts course. Most just bash on and hope that the tiny vocal minority they are appealing to come out on election day.

The LPO imploded and have remained in that state because they forgot that the "folks" matter, and get to have their say every few years.

The backroom dealings in Queen's Park aren't any worse than they were before, it's just that the "legacy media" is mostly captured by LPC/LPO believers, so every greasy deal is front page news on repeat.
