From the DND web site. Anybody hear any more about this?

Operation PEREGRINE
The Canadian Forces (CF) is preparing to assign additional personnel and equipment from across Canada to Operation PEREGRINE, the CF commitment to assist the province of British Columbia in their forest firefighting efforts.

These deployments, if required, will augment and could eventually replace some of the roughly 1,500 soldiers from Land Force Western Area (LFWA) already serving in the fire-stricken region in both firefighting and support roles. Operation PEREGRINE is now the CF‘s second-largest deployment after Operation ATHENA, the CF‘s contribution to the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.

Due to its intensity and duration, Operation PEREGRINE has made the transition to a national operation with Brigadier-General Ivan Fenton, Commander LFWA, as Task Force Commander.

All I know about it is that our unit sent about a Platoon worth of guys out there. Some have come back already because of school or work or other committments, but haven‘t heard anything about them needing replacements. Maybe if I can get hold of one of the guys who have recently returned, I‘ll see if I can garner a little more info.
