Every kid here in Pet has a bloody T shirt...or pedal bike adorned with the latest catch phrase spited out by Paul Snr or the infantile Mikey...Mike...whatever the lazy sloth likes to be called.

Oh well. there is at least one real chopper magazine that see through all the tripe of that show.....

I've been a loyal reader since the Iron Horse days....they pull no punches when it comes to posers in the chopper world. They are the source for all the "Great Biker Build off" shops. Hue Cane must be a reader....that's where he found Larry, Billy, Jessy, Young, Voodoo Choppers....

The editor was in one of the episodes.....wraping a set of pipes, and explaining why the tape had to be wet.

A good mag for anyone who likes to work on their own bike. Mostly Harleys and Triumphs...some Jap stuff lately too.

I like the show actually.. I'm probably the only one. I like the design on their bikes (my favourite being the Black Widow). The points everyone else makes though are valid but nonetheless I still like their work and their personas.

Franko- you're missing what they (OCC) do best- theme bikes.

They'll never do what other custom shops are doing- but they do a great job on the theme bikes (check out the "Cat" bike). They have the ability to incorporate logos, concepts, etc like nothing I've ever seen.

Their regular, commercial choppers are just that- assembly line "choppers" for the masses.

Well....we're going to have to agree to disagree on that Garry. 

The fact is, they add on parts to a stock bike....give it a goddy paint job....mark up the price over 500%....

And call it a theme bike.

I sat through one show (the Miller Welding one) and added up the cost of the parts....$23,000 US. That's not including the welding trailer.

No special hand made frame with a special rake. No hand made parts for the engine. The wheels were bought from another company...as was the seat, forks, engine, brakes, petcock, motor mounts, tranny mounts, oil bag, clutch basket (from Bandit IIRC) Baker tranny, gas tank (which they welded on scrap steel to make a mock face mask)....you get the idea.

The only thing that was original was the paint. The kid doing it is quite talented...too bad he's stiffled by the crap Snr and Jnr want on it....anyways....

They turned around and got paid over $150,000 for it  :

I don't blame OCC for all of it...if the companies are willing to pay for garbage so be it.

The thing that gets me is the masses lining up for hours and paying $25 to see them at car shows....paying out $30 per t shirt...spouting off the latest slang spewed from the clan's mouth....thinking that they are "hardcore" for doing so.

I must admit, reluctantly, that the "ol skool" chopper that Coady and Snr made was a good project for the youngin' to make.....and for Snr to give outright to the lad. The kid has talent....hopefully it won't be stiffled in Rock Tavern, NY.

I'd like to see them in a build off a la " The Horse" style. No cameras....only pictures of progress. Start off with a basket case and proceed from there. Only constraints....it has to be no more than $10,000 in costs. Then ridden to the Smoke Out and judged by the masses.

Oh to see the look on Billy Lane's, Hank Young, Eric Gorges faces....  ;D

Is 150K for a one hour "commercial" worth it?    Some of the fabrications are two episodes...notice that most of the theme bikes coming off the show lately are for major corporations?  (As opposed to season 1) That's a pretty reasonable price for some publicity IMHO.
