Ottawa hasn't ruled out a guard of honour at war memorial

If we are to place a guard on 24/7 duty, we need that 30 - 60 person guard to cover the thing adequately.... 4 people at any one time, 365 days a year......

Don't know about you but, outside of having an "Old Fort Henry guard" kind of manning, I just don't see it ever happening............... (staffed by Parks Canada)

There is no reason CHofO and GGFG couldn't pull this off.  The guards have the man power 6 months a year to pull it off reliably and this could be supplemented by CHofO.  If you could tell collage and university students they could get a half days pay for evenings through the school year they would go for it.  All they have to do is act like security. The rest of the personnel would be class B from one of the units.  IT takes more than 4 guys you would need a piper and JrNCO's to post in position and at least two sets of back ups.  Not to mention the Jr officer and SnrNCO's....everyday.  At night switch over to unarmed but equipped personnel to keep up on the drunks.  The Shads could very easily be counted on to cover this.
