Hi there,

My recruiting officer said to me that my application was almost ready and I would be able to start parade nights on September and go to BMQ next year. I am currently applying to be a boatswain in the HMCS Discovery at Vancouver. I was just wondering what kind of stuff and training would I be doing on parade nights if I haven't being to the BMQ or the BMNQ yet and I am pretty much untrained in fire arms marching, saluting, etc.

Thanks a lot

A few discussions you may find of interest.

So I was just sworn into the reserves yesterday and I am curious what training will consist of until I get put on course in the summer.

What will I be doing as a unqualified pvt on parade nights? My BMQ is in January so I will start parading 3 months prior to BMQ,

did any one else do the parade night before BMQ? and what do they do on those nights?

I'm I the only one who sees something wrong here or am I that outdated?
Paper work almost done in March but not stating parading until Sept.
Seems like a overly long time.
The Forces risk losing many recruits due to this long delay.
BMQ not until next year?
No weekend courses or at least this summer?

X Royal,

Nav Res recruits throughout the year, but CFRG priorities and applicant problems can add delays with enrollment dates.
Additionally, Nav Res has chosen to conduct national summer BMQ vice the local weekend BMQ model used be the CA Reserve.

Just wait until you put a CT in  ::).

Edit:

But seriously are you sure that the unit(s) that you applied to haven't forgotten about you? It doesn't make sense if any of those units have a spot and you are fully processed why you would have to wait a year after the fact..

i've been visiting the local Reserve recruiting centre once a month or so and i've been hearing the same thing since April 2014; that they're still conducting my background check (security clearance 60E) because i was born outside of Canada ....but i'm still waiting  :salute:
