I think Trump is intentionally stiff-arming Carney until (to mix metaphors) he can get a better set of cards.
We own a large part of his economy which gives us a stronger hand than he would like.
If he can strengthen his position and weaken ours then he will see himself as being in a better bargaining position.

I think he perceives himself as having time to deal with us as we won't be making any radical moves and are looking for a deal.

I agree. But given those constraints he is playing his hand his way.
And by 2028 will we be facing Vance?
To be frank he bothers me more than Trump.
And the Democrat contenders scare the heck out of me.

My greatest concern is Canadian apathy, the return from the Gordie Howe high to waiting for things to work themselves out.

I hope at least some people maintain a sense of drive and purpose.

Adorable seems to be the condition most Canadians have been comfortable with Vis a Vis America.
