Perhaps some advice on "spin" - LOG Officer Hopeful

Hello, new to this forum, and just had a question or two.

First off, let me show you what I'm working with: I've applied for LOG Officer (Army) and know there are several more hurdles to go. I have a BA in Political Science (Specialized in International Economics) and worked in the financial sector (loans and wire transfers, mainly) as an assistant manager until recently. My credit situation is MEH. Not bad, not great. Had one financial problem 4 years ago that I paid off very quickly, and currently have about $1500 in OSAP debt (and recently made a payment of over $1000). Play a charity hockey tournament every year, have experience in Air Cadets (was in the Halifax International Tattoo Cadet Drill Display Team many moons ago).

Apart from that, I have a great deal of administrative and managerial experience. References as far as the eye can see, and have gotten myself into pretty damned good shape over the last 3 months. Basically, I wanted to be Good To Go at any time before I applied, physically- hence why I put my application in end of September rather than earlier.

Now, I know a lot of this is in line with what the Army likes for this specific trade, but here's my dilemma:

For the past 5 years, I was also part of a touring/recording rock and roll band, signed to a record label down south. We barely went to the States, so I know for security and earning purposes, this won't be an issue (especially for earning purposes...ugh). My main question on all of this would be: does anyone have any advice of how I could spin this in the interview? I have some ideas myself, but anyone with a direct working knowledge from within the military might have a better idea than I would.

Some of my jobs with the band, apart from actual musicianship, include: tour booking, venue booking, promotions (all forms of media), fan relations, merchandising and I was the band's publication liason (hey, we were in NME, not bad!).

I'm an honest person, so don't think that I'm asking how to "lie" about any of this, just looking for some friendly advice on how I might be able to polish all that up when I get my interview (eventually).

Thank you very much.

What's there to spin?  It's not like you bit the heads off chickens during performances (hopefully not) or, even worse, played disco.  Joking aside, I honestly don't understand your dilemma.  Do you seriously think that having a (part-time?) occupation as a (self-employed?) musician would hamper your application?  You won't be the first.  If it was a significant part of your work history for the past few years, then explain what it entailed the same as you did in your post.

Not at all what I meant. I was merely asking for advice on how someone who has gone through the process would go about presenting the information, maybe in relation to the trade itself.

As I stated, I do have ideas on how to do this myself, but asking for a second opinion never hurts.

focus on the relevant experience/Education associated with Log O, and not on playing music.

Simple enough answer?

I've worked in Retail which has nothing to do with LogO and I still got in(reserves 09), as well as had a bunch of random work experience.
