Hello "ARMY.CA" and all of its members. This is my first thread and I made sure to search the site to find if there were any threads that were related to this one but the searches turned up none. That or I was using the wrong key terms in the search. Here at my local unit some of the members have said that you can attach whatever you want onto your C7 as long as it goes back into the armory. The same way it came out.  Does anyone have any insight to this ? Or are there similar rules in your unit ? Or have you heard of rules like this that other units have?

What does the person in charge of your Armoury say?
Fact is better than "some guys have said"

Cheers

I haven't had a chance to talk to the person in charge of it. The sergeant thats in charge of the recruiting and one of the Captains told me this but I would like to see if any one on here has heard of this. or if serving they have the same rules/guidelines in there unit.

Firstly its armoury, not armory.

Secondly methinks someone is BS'n you, you cant attach 'whatever you want'. Duty of care, OH&S are there for reasons.

Its not a game.

EDIT: How about filling in your profile.

Anything is possible, I just remember the Old days and the Old rules.

It's always better to confirm before you act (to see it in writing is best).
I'm not saying you could be set up for a left, right , left as some have in the past(avoiding bitter comment)
Just a caution before modifying anything.

Full mag, bayonet, index finger in trigger guard, master eye... that's all you need to attach to a C7. Carry on as if normal...  :)

What I mean is to replace the black pistol grip, the black heat shields, the elcrap. With olive drab shields and grips and replace the elcrap with a redot or acog. etc and attach vertical grip.

IMHO - worry about that when you've got a little more TI. In the meantime, I'd suggest getting comfortsble with the basics first, which will always serve you well in the future.

I'm assuming by this, you're referring to a Pres Unit... If this is the case; what do you need to add to a C7?  When/if you go on a tour, then you can worry about weapons mods... even then, good luck.

Have you seen these "other members" attach stuff to their C7?  Something you'll learn in the military (if you haven't already); Monkey see, Monkey do.  If you're alone, you're doing something wrong... does that require any more explanation?

You will find, especially in PRes units, rules vary from unit to unit... the best people to ask about this is your CoC.  Your RSM will have a definite answer.. but you might not want to just go up and ask.

Good luck...  And I'll tell you this right now; the chances of replacing a sight with a non-issued one are slim to nil.  It comes down to a safety issue... my unit has been dealing with this lately.
Consider this;  Members using their own sights on a range can be a serious safety issue... As much as the Elcan sucks for actual combat, it's proven on the range (somewhat... at least more than an Airsoft ACOG rip off).  And, for exercises, what would you need a fancy site for... Look cool factor?  Not on.

Weapons "mods" are NOT authorized unless performed by a Wpns Tech against a validated CF-mandated mod programme.  Anyone who tells you different is BSing in a big way, despite what "may have happened" in theatre from time to time.  I'm sure a maintainer will be along to enlighten everyone soon enough.

There are no "unit rules" and this is not a chain of command decision to make.

And locked.

Schafer, do what you're told.  Learn, train, use your kit properly and don't believe the rumour net.  RHFC_Piper, there are no "unit rules" with regards to CF weapons and unit RSMs do not make weapons modification policies - stay in your lane.  Full stop.

For unlock, normal rules apply, via PM for good reasons.
