For the guys that live in Pet, I'm being posted there next monday and I'd like to know where and how much can I get cable and high speed internet in the single shacks. If that's even possible.

cable comes with the shacks
and to get high speed you need a phone line (just idiot proofing), call up bell, tell them you want dsl, and you have to call a local to get your phone hooked up, which is the same local to call for high speed. I can't remember for sure, 7447 I think, it's something like that.
but yeah, get phone hooked up at base, and with bell
then do same for high speed.

Just a note of caution when choosing Bell for highspeed DSL, they have a contract. After your first 3 months if you cancel your service it will cost you $100.00...

You could simply get cable high speed internet and that would be faster and same price with no contract...



Doesn't matter to me, just a suggestion!

Thanks for the replies. Yeoman, by cable in shacks you mean in the common room right? So bringing a small tv is kind of pointless unless I'd bring a dvd player to just watch movies. As for high speed internet, there's only ADSL around? No cable internet?

If you live in the shacks you get cable for something like $10 a month. Its in every room.

there's no cable internet that I know of. I tried to get that. but I use dsl and it works great here.
I think you can get a phone hooked up in any of the rooms in the shacks on base. I'm not too too sure about the traditional shacks (the ones that 3 RCR, and 2 CER are still in), but I'm sure you can. next time I see my buddy from 3, I'll ask him just to make sure that you can do that in those types of shacks.

lol, wow I can't believe they have high speed in the SQs now.  I would have stayed up in pet another 5 years if I knew that although I would have been single though.  lol
