Good afternoon everyone,
I'm a recent Reg Force applicant with intentions of going into the AVN Tech trade post BMQ. My main question I'm posting about doesn't seem to have been covered previously, and if so, I'm not able to find it via the forum search function. I apologize in advance if it has been covered.
Why have the physical requirements been discontinued for Reg Force applicants? I would think that having minimum physical requirements would remove people from the system that really aren't ready for BMQ? Wouldn't they be put in the position of becoming a significant strain on the other recruits who were "up to par" so to speak? Not that I really have anything against helping someone else improve (I can use the improvement myself) but it seems like a backwards policy to me. What does the majority here think about this? Good or bad?
Regardless, while scared to death, I'm pretty excited about this change in my life. I've realized I seriously need to think of the future and sitting in an office for the next 45 years is really not a long-term plan that I should count on to carry myself and my family. I've always been a proud supporter of our military and am humbled by the opportunity to be able to wear the uniform.
Thanks for all of the great information which is available here, it's really helped me to make an informed decision that I know I won't regret. I hope this site will continue running for many more years.
Jake.
