I was looking for a person who is in the navy (possibly in the NES op trade) that I could sit for a while and pick their brain on the trade and the navy way of life,  any takers? We could chat on msn or via e-mail. I'm just looking for a general view of what life would be like if I joined the navy and what to expect, from things like where I would travel to, to how many showers you get a week
Let me know!

No one interested? Thought you'd all be jumping at the chance to talk about your trades :)

Try filling in your Profile and your thoughts on why you're considering the Armed Forces.

Cheers.

I don't know where you live, but my sister had the same question. I told her to talk to the CFRC and they set her up with a LogO to talk to. Kind of a job shadow... I don't know if the CFRC would want to start entertaining that idea. But it does show initiative, IMHO. Personally I know how you feel, You can read all day, but to actually see where you will live, what you will do, how you will shower, etc, etc. It's a hard choice to sign on the dotted line. Police, ambulance and fire (for the most part) will take you out on a ride along, would be nice if the CF could accommodate as well.

I know that the NOAB has flushed a couple potential candidates on their own will, due to physically letting the terms come to grips. It either confirms your choice or brings you to the true reality.

If pictures and reading was good enough, I would never have to go on sight seeing tours in europe.

Wish I personally knew a NES OP for ya. Good luck

The several hundred of pages talking about naval life in general and certain trades not enough for you?

Hey man.  I'm not a NESOP, but I have one good buddy who is has been one for about 9 years now and he loves his job.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I've had someone contact me and is now answering all my silly questions about the Navy. Yes, it would be awesome to see what the job would be like before I signed on, but from what everyone is telling me, all the navy guys love what they do so I don't see why I wouldn't. The idea of living so closely with a group of people kind of weirds me out but i'm sure I would adjust to it. Gonna get started on my paperwork. Thanks for the helpful responses.

Key advice !

Don't forget to ask to meet a NES OP when you'll bring your paper work to the CFRC, you might get lucky.
Before, gather as much of possible of data on NES OP so you'll have clear questions for them and then most likely you'll get clear answers.

my  :2c:  and good luck.
