Hi,

I am currently in a CT from PRes Infantry to RegF Pilot.

Currently I am conducting PLQ Mod 2-5 on a weekend course.

Rumour has it, that if you are PLQ qualified and transfer to an Officer trade, you can get an IAP bypass when you go to St. Jean.

My question is, how much PLQ does one need to complete to obtain an IAP bypass? Is Mod 2-5 sufficent, or do you need Mod 6 as well?

If anyone could help me with this, it would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks...

You need 2-5 AND ALL mod 6. Believe me... from experience. If you get a chance to complete mod 6, do it. I only had 1-6a as it was all I needed for my trade. It is the equivalent to the navy/airforce PLQ and only missing a couple of weeks off the complete army PLQ and they were still able to say I had to complete IAP. My buddy has mod 2-5 and he had to do IAP... however my other friend had the Navy PLQ and was able to bypass IAP and go straight on to BOTP.

IAP isn't too bad... I would have been sitting on my butt staying relatively poor for 9 weeks last fall waiting for the BOTP course to start if I hadn't done it (ie: they won't transfer you and start paying you until you are on your IAP or BOTP course - a little thing they like to call leave without pay. They probably won't offer OJT either - that's more or less offered to BOTP qualifed people) and as a former reservist - "it was a few full-days pay". There are always 2-6 people on a DEO IAP course platoon with military experience (ptes or cpls from the reserves or civies who spent a year or 2 in the reserves back in the day) so you won't be alone. You just have to keep your head low, help those around you (as they will be all ****ed up) and pretend that in all your classes it's the first time you've ever done it - drill, weapons, field craft, instructional techniques etc (even though you would have done 99.9% of it already at some point in your military career).
