Odessa has a fascinating history. The ethnic mix pre 1914 was pretty cool. The extensive Greek history/population back then was extensive.
Ethnic cleansing has been going on a lot over the last 125yrs throughout Europe and the Middle East.

I have also read a few of Isak Babel’s books over the years.
I enjoyed his writing of the Red Cavalry’s drive to Warsaw in 1920 as he’s best.
