Posting / Deployment Problem

Hello,

I have a confusing problem and can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone.  I'm hoping someone here can shed a bit of light on the matter.  I'll apologize in advance for the long post.

It all started about a year ago when I was told I was slated for a deployment in 2008.  I ended up doing several months of training for this deployment.

Later that year I was told that my position was cut from the deployment and that I was posted.  It came as a bit of a shock since I had just hit my two year mark into my posting and most people here were not getting posted until their fourth or fifth year.  I was told I was posted because I was cut from the deployment.

Skip ahead a few months and people start to DAG red.  I'm then told that I'm the primary backup and to start my DAG.  A few weeks later, another guy DAG's red and I'm ready to take his place.  The next day I'm told that they want to send me but they can't because the career manager won't let them.

This is where I start to get really confused.  When I did my interview with the CM I was told that my chain of command had decided I was posted and because of that being here less than three years didn't matter.  Now they want to keep me and deploy me and I'm told it's up to the career manager if I can deploy.  At this point I do not have a posting message, just a screening message.  The CM has decided that I won't deploy.

Then I'm told that when they nominated me to be posted they somehow thought I was here a year longer then I have been.  So the whole posting and missing the deployment are the result of a clerical error!

I'm more upset about missing the deployment than the posting.  The posting I'm slated for is a static position (the only place I didn't want to be posted), so I doubt I'll be able to get another deployment in the next four or five years.

Is there anything I can do to get on this deployment?  Is there any way I can extend my posting another year?  I'm finding it really hard to believe my unit can't keep me another year or put off my posting for a few months.

Thanks for any advice.
