Hello,

I have tried to search other topics but I can't find any applicable information. Here is a timeline of my situation.

- Accepted in ROTP (Armour) June 2006. Scheduled to attend RMC in September 2006. I was 19 years old.

- Attended IAS/BOTP in St Jean in July 2006.

- Obtained injury from wrong size boots while training. Missed 7 physical fitness classes (medically approved/advised) and sent to PAT platoon. Released honourably under section 4C - "Voluntary - On Request - Other Reasons - It is the member's choice to quit CF. The main reasons are new civilian employment, difficulty to adapt to military life, family reasons, stress etc."

- Officially honourably discharged September 11 2006.

When I first obtained the injury I was advised that I could complete my IAS/BOTP the next summer and head to Ontario early to prepare for RMC. I did not choose this option because I was frustrated, disgruntled and I realize now simply unprepared in my life for my career. I opted to be discharged and therefore was.  Honestly reflecting I was mentally and physically out of shape and under prepared which resultd in the injury and decision.

My question is 5 years later at 25 and much life learning complete, I am ready to re enroll. Does anyone have any experience with how CF recruitment handles this situation? Since I already had this opportunity once, is it viewed negatively to consider me again?

Upon contacting recruitment I was given the following information which while helpful doesn't answer the full question above. Any information, advice and insight on this topic will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

CR

"If you have been released more than 5 years generally speaking you must complete all of the steps you did previously.
Part of the application process will be a Verification of Former Service (VFS).  If you have any documentation such as a CF490A or MPRR please provide it with your application.  A Prior Learning Assessment Review (PLAR) will also be conducted.  This determines what qualifications and credit an individual receives. The PLAR is not conducted by recruiting centres thus it would be inappropriate to speculate on what you may or may not be granted. The result might lead to enrolment at a higher pay incentive, time credited towards promotion or the bypassing of a portion of your training.

If your aptitude test results can be retrieved and they are sufficient for your current application then you will not have to re-write.

If you applied online originally, please do not do so again as your electronic file may still be available. "

Re-apply,

Explain in your interview what you explained here, and why you think you are ready now. Your previous experience most likely wont help you per se (as in give you an advantage), but it may not hinder either. As you seem to have discovered, you will have to start from 0 again, but if you want this job, you have to do that stuff, there's no two ways about it.

Basically, you have a choice; apply and maybe get in, or don't apply and for sure never get in.

Agree.  This shouldn't necessarily mean a longer wait than what's presently expected in most trades.  A waiver for an item 4 release is usually looked at by a CO rather than going higher.
