Hello,

I've searched sleep apnea and did not come up with a specific answer to my question.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 7 years ago and denied entry into the CF.  At the time i was tipping the scale 60-70lbs more then i am now, and am wondering a few things.

One would be if i go for a medical check up, will I have to go and be retested. If a family physician does a normal checkup of general health says that's not a problem will it still come up?. And last what are steps other then a fitness regime, proper diet to reduce chances of still being labled with the disorder.

All I want in life is to join the CF, to be apart of the family.

Thank you in advance.

I am not a doctor, nor do a pose as one on the internet.  I can, however, give you the same advice that we give to every poster who comes here asking the same question about any imaginable random medical condition:

You need to go talk to a recruiter.  Only the Recruiting System medical staff can make a decision on whether your condition will affect your chances for enrollment.  No one here can advise you on the particulars of your medical condition.

Thank you  Mr. O'Leary for your quick and great responce. I truly respect and appreciate it

I echo Michael's post go to the recruiting center.  But as a Physician Assistant the big question I have is do you use a CPAP machine if not then sleep apnea isn't a big deal other than to your poor roommate who may have to put up with you possible snorring.  If you do then only the recruiting medical personnel will only be the ones who can accuratly answer your question.

I was in fact issued to get one, got the device, but never used it.  Over the last few years i do find the symptoms to be clearing or gone in general.
