Also, consider what your hobbies/interests are. Personally, I love living in Northern Ontario. I live in North Bay. If you have never been here, it's about a 4 hour drive north of Toronto. I think it's the ideal place for outdoorsy type people who enjoy hunting, fishing & hiking. We are surrounded by 2 huge lakes that offer great fishing. They are clean and you can swim in them. In the winter, you can ice fish or snowmobile if you are into that sort of thing. The summer is beautiful here. We have a great waterfront and a bike trail that goes from one end of the city to the other. There are waterfalls here, and the list goes on....but again, I would only recommend it if you like spending alot of time outdoors. The best part is the smog free air and as for the cost of houses.....you can get a friggin mansion for $150,000 - $200,000. I live in a decent sized 4 bedroom house with a full basesment, living room, kitchen and dining room, 2 bathrooms and it was $100,000. Hope this helps

Hi
We just sold a property outside of Ottawa,(see Gloucester Glen on MLS). Nice little community and 2 1/2 hour drive from St Jean(we have 3 kids and two black labs).  We took a major pay cut to join the regular force, so selling sooner and taking the chance on getting a posting message was worth it for us.
Husband is on BOTP right now there, we were hoping to get posted before we closed, but he just found out he is stuck on French Trg there for another 9 months, so that means we need to find another house ASAP, we are staying in the neighbourhood, but going smaller to save money now.
I love it here, it is a smaller and newer community (resembles the burbs, but has a lot of country space around, as well as a brand new grocery store and new catholic school).

Also for OTtawa area, try www.grapevine.on.ca (area 7)
