Good day All,

I've searched through the site, and ACIMS looking for documentation on the proper protocol for markers on PT, and can't seem to find anything. It seems like an odd thing to not have direction on, or an SOP for, considering "it's what we've always done."

It seems to me, I've never actually been given direction as to the proper method of being a marker during PT, nor have I found anyone else that says they have. I plan on doing a safety talk about it in the near future, and was trying to dig up approved information vice making it up from scratch etc... Does anyone know of any actual direction / documentation on this?

I'd like to be able to talk about actions on various intersections, approaching vehicles, and actual responsibilities etc... Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it'd be base order thing...

Here is something from 381

188. Troops marching on road.
When troops are marching on roads in
formed bodies, look-outs will be posted at a
suitable distance in front and rear of the troops to
warn vehicle drivers. These lookouts will also
wear the florescent traffic vests unless the unit
CO believes this will interfere with the training
objective. To give warning in daylight, the lookout
will use hand signals or carry notices; at night
they will carry lights. The light in front will be
WHITE; and that in rear, RED. Troops marching
in formed bodies will observe traffic signals in the
same manner as other road users and will march
in the same direction as traffic flow.

Should follow the same rules as PT

Hey that's not bad! I was always told we were "moving pylons" for cars to avoid!

"PYLONS OUT!!!" meant a whole new pain when we were running with 50 or 60 troops!

Have you checked your Base Standing Orders and/or Unit Standing Orders?  That is most likely where you will find some info.

Yes, via ACIMS.
