I'm in a program called ncmsep, basically I'm getting paid to go to school and after I have a cf trade, before that I spent a few years in the reserves so I'm not unfamiliar to the cf but I am quite ignorant in regards to posting, in two months I will be getting married and I will be sent on my threes or dp1, am I entitled to live with my wife while on ql3?

As to length I've been it one of the longest in the cf. but I have no facts to support this.

If your soon to be spouse resides within the geographical boundaries of the training unit (ie; Base Borden), then you may very well be able to request this through the school once you arrive.  It's a tricky question because both your COS date and the date you are married may play an impact on benefits, etc, etc....

Ask once you get there or if at all possible, ask your current supporting ULO/NCM SEP Orderly Room and see if they can be of assistance.

Make sure they know about it ahead of time. Make sure you provide proof of marriage to the CF as soon as possible (stopping by on your way to the honeymoon soon) and request a full posting. Also if you are already common -law let them know because it may make a difference. The soon you take action the better. There are a lot of people in Borden who are trying to have their family sent here after the fact and losing money the who time.

It can be done.  I did it.  There are a few catches though;

1.  You have to be posted to your training base (or any base for that fact) for greater then 12 months to have your move restriction lifted.
2.  You will have to write a memo to your CM through the CoC of your school to get the restriction lifted, with the required references (sorry mine is filed in the black hole I call a basement).  Yours
are "....Movement of Household Goods and Effects are Prohibited IAW...."
3.  While you're spouse/dependents may be allowed to live in a PMQ, you will have to live in the shacks with the class. Or at least keep up appearances.

Now, having said that;

Leave them where ever they are.  I know it is hard to do, but this is your time to integrate into the military and bond with your new family.  This is the first extended time away from them, and it will not be the last.  Use this time away for training to get your family used to you being away, instead of their first time with you being overseas.

We made a mistake, we both realized it too late, but it was done.  Hopefully, you are close enough that you can get to them on the weekends.

Welcome to your new family.  If you want help writing the Memo send me a PM.

I can't provide references  but CFSATE did a study which proved they can not legally tell you wear to live. As a result 18 year old single dudes are living out, let alone married people. When I was at the fleet school, all married pers were allowed to live out and that was 10 years ago.

Now I can't speak for what goes on at CFSEME but there should be no problem staying with your family if you can get them posted with you

Actually, the CO can:

QR&O 28.11

28.11 - OCCUPATION OF SINGLE QUARTERS BY MEMBERS ELIGIBLE FOR FAMILY HOUSING
An officer or non-commissioned member who is eligible to occupy family housing may be required to occupy single quarters, if:

a.  no family housing is available; and
b.  the officer in command of the base, unit or element concerned considers it necessary that the member do so for the proper performance of the member's duties.

Ahh,

You found it before I did.  I knew it was somewhere.  Released for 3 days and I'm already getting rusty.  I'm going to miss my Bookmarks for posts like this (yes I know I should've exported them but I forgot  )

In my case, CFMSS or whatever it's called this year (Medical School at Borden) requires all NCM's on their 3's and 5's to live in.  I got permission to get a PMQ due to extenuating circumstances that I won't go into here.  But it took months of memos and red tape, and I still had to maintain my own space in shacks and march to and from the school with the rest of the class.

Like I said earlier, unless you are going to be there for more then a year doing training, it's not worth the hassle.  Leave the family behind and use this opportunity to get everyone used to you being gone.  Hopefully, you are close enough to visit on weekends (hard to say since your profile isn't completed)

WRT to the 3s, this makes sense and follow the instructions in the Basic Trg List Admin Guide (BTAGs).  Also, CF mbrs aren't normally entitled to a move at public expense until they reach "Career Status"; occupationally qualified or 3 years Reg Frce service.

I'd bet that most people on their 5s are on TD or Attach Posting, vice being posted?  For career status folks, anything that crosses the line of a year and AP isn't supposed to be an option.

I've never been a fan of the "do it now so you get used to it" stuff when it comes to being away from your family when not needed; if you make a career out of the CF, you'll be away plenty enough as it is, miss enough birthdays and graduations and all that as it is.

However, I also see the "fiscal common sense" that goes along with the no career status = no cost move.  Until you are qual'd, the CF doesn't know for certain that you WILL pass the course.

MY guess is that they felt it would not stand up to a legal challenge. I would think thought would be even more relevant following the new.rules. But I don't know where they got this info.

A few questions:

1.  Who is 'they"?
2.  What form would this legal challenge take?
3.  Which new rules?

Thank you all for the replies! I'm taking the advice as talking to my ocelot room and ULO, and the Capt who runs the hole ncmsep for southern ontario. An as o lot everything seems like it will be fine. Thanks again.

Great!  Few questions:    ^-^

1.  What is an ocelot room?

2.  A Capt runs the hole NCMSEP?  What program is that exactly?  :blotto:

3.  My Kellogs Cereal Decoder Ring is broke, can you decode the 2nd last sentence.  ;D

;)

Don't get worked up...I'm just joshin' ya alittle.  Good luck and enjoy your wedding.  :)
