hey what im wondering is im going down tommorrow afternoon, and im wondering what happens when i go down their? i want to signup and try to join infantry, do i just go down and pick up an application? or do i sit down and talk to a recruiter? and also im wondering do i got to dress up, no hat on and such, and also it doesnt look bad if you bring a friend with you does it, he wants to go down to vancouver and go shopping so i thought i would bring him with me, sorry i know these are stupid questions but i just dont want to look like an idiot infront of them

I went to my local office for the first time a couple days ago. (Hamilton) In my opinion, you can just pick up an application and fill it out OR talk to a recruiter. The recruiter I dealt with was very friendly and informative. He was genuinely interested in helping me start the recruitment process. He went through each step thoroughly. I suggest talking with a recruiter, even if you know quite alot about it.
I noticed that another potential candidate who came in the doors just after me had brought her friend. They didn't seem to mind. In fact, (at least in Hamilton), there are quite a few things to read or watch regarding the CF. I could have spent a while there!
I just wore my street clothes. I wasn't going for an interview.....just wanted some info. Your interviews and such will come later.
Of course, these are just my opinions....

You go inside, they give you an application booklet with everything you will need inside it, you go home fill it out and come back with it filled out.  Don't bother to dress up, the recruiters arent gonna chew you out just because you arent in a suit and tie.  Sure, bring your friend, the more people we have applying the better.

You might also want to pick up some brochures and have a chat with the recruiter about the trades , because it will help with the interview.

At the end of my interview, the guy that was interviewing me (forget his name and rank) told me to go and read up on infantry , he said something about me knowing absolutely nothing of what the infantry really does... something about them not building houses for poor people? lol  Luckily for me he still handed on my application and I got in :)

Unfortunately I still don't understand the role of the infantry soldier, except to do as hes told lol.
