Okay from what I understand is you need to be over 18 or 19 to go over seas on operations. For example Afghanistan, Haiti, etc.  What I want to know is would a 16 year old be able to go over seas for training.
thanks in advance.

If you have to be 17 to join the CF, then you are not going to be able to do so.

IF you are in Cadets, you will be able to do Exchanges with the Cadet movement.

And NO! you can not go over when you are 17, because you will still have to go through Recruit School and then Trades Training and that will take you to the grand old age of 18 or 19.

Don't forget you can join the 'Mo at 16, or has that changed?

And it could be possible that a militia Pte. (R) could go say, down to the US for an exercise on spring break inbetween BMQ and SQ for example. That person in question might still be 16. Unlikely probably, but still...
Very good Piper.  Now, if you look at the original question, it was if someone could go "OVERSEAS" for training at the age of 16.  Not very likely.  Even a Reservist would not have completed their Recruit and Trades Training at that age.

Please contact a Mod if you have anything else relevant to this case.

Okay I was talking about the reserves.  I just thought that was clear when I said I was 16.  I guess not.  Anywho so the answer is now you can not go over seas for training or liaison when you are under 18/19.
Thanks.
