Question for those in Highland Regiments

i wear a kilt usually when i get dressed up. i have never revealed to anyone what i wear or don't wear. i prefer to leave it so they are almost begging. lol.

i remember some one once told me that when there is a woman on the throne than you are supposed to wear something underthe kilt and when there is a male on the throne than you go regimental. has anyone else ever heard this?

You're mixed up there Hutch. We have a woman on the throne now, and we wear nothing now.

No i am not mixed up it is what i heard from someone Else. if i were to say it the other way around than it would be mixed up.

I stand to be corrected (as usual), however ... I understood that "regimental" means one thing when HM attends the pde (due to an unfortunate incident in Victorian times ...), and something different when HM is not attending the pde.

Aside from that, it's for a Highlander to know ... and non-Highlanders to find out ... (i.e. don't tell)

exactly.

i have one question though. i have a feeling the answer will be no, but is there any type of Highland regiment in the reg force. i want to join a Highland regiment but i cant seem to find any attached to the reg force.

You are correct - there are presently no Regular Force Highland/Scottish regiments in Canada
(but I seem to remember counting the Reserve ones, and I believe there are approximately 17 ...).

well there should be. we should have the black watch or something in the reg force.

I totally agree with that comment!! Pardon me for saying this, but the regs seem boring without any highland regiments out there (***please don't shoot me***)

Why would anyone shoot you, you would be surprised at how many Regs believe that too.

Either way it's cool having our own club though!!

we desperately need a highland reg force regiment. it would probably raise the amount of soldiers in the reg force

Hey - Had an additional question about this topic, I'm not sure if the specifics have already been asked yet. I saw a unit on parade in Hamilton and it looked like they had a) a large group of guys in their Highland regiment dress uniform, b) guys in the green suit-and-tie uniform, and then c) another group in their BDU's. I was curious about the reasoning for this. Is the kilt earned through any particular process (i.e. completing their bmq/sq first) or a choice by the individuals in the regiment? Or were they illustrating a point of some kind for rememberance day? Or am I just unobservant and it was likely they were just separate units? It looked to me like the other reserve units were already split up, and that the three were all together apart from them... (that probably didn't make any sense...)
