If I had an escalator. And I deployed a Slinky onto it. Would it stay in the same position while on the escalator?


Think about it.

I would hazard to guess the answer is no, because the steps on an escalator are wider than the normal step you have in a house. Therefore one must conclude that it will not 'slink' down the escalator forever, but it may sure as well roll down the escalator forever.
