My IR is slated to last until 14 Jul 09 or earlier (by request). I think the issue about people thinking they don't have to re-apply is that if you are a married service couple, the IR will be approved as long as the other member is not co-located with a posting. It still needs to be requested through the CM, though. A service mbr with a civilian spouse has to request it and it may or may not be approved depending on the reasons for the request.
