Hello,

I’m preparing for the CAF medical assessment, and I have a question about the urine test. Specifically, does the urine test check for THC from prior cannabis use, and would a positive result affect my eligibility or progress in the recruitment process? I’m aware that cannabis is legal in Canada, but I’d like to clarify how this might factor into the medical evaluation.

Thank you in advance for any insights.

What urine test? There is no drug testing done during recruiting. Full stop. You fill out a questionnaire honestly, they will go over your questionnaire with you and that’s it.
The main issue would be if you could not stop using cannabis for the 8-9 weeks you are at BMQ.
If there is concern about something and the CFRC needs more info they will give you a letter to take to your family doctor for more info.

From what I’ve heard, there isn’t a drug test during the CAF recruitment process—just a medical questionnaire that you go over with the recruiter.
