I really want to join the army and I am thinking of going for MP, Sig Op or Infantry soldier. :cdn:

But in order to plan the change from a civilian to military career I had few questions:

1. Are recruits paid during Basic Training, if not when does the pay begin?

2. Is the flight to BMQ paid for or do you have to find your own way?

3. I take it is hard to get in as a MP but what are the chances of getting in as a Sig Op and/or infantry solider.

thanks for the help in advance.... :threat:

1. yes
2. yes (reimbursement) OOPS see below (I paid my own way and was reimbursed)
3. Depends on your capabilities and background. I believe there are more SigOp and Inf. spots open than MP though.

Edit: clarified by someone smarter than me in next post

NO ! The flight to BMQ will be arranged by the CFRC ( trough amex travel services) and PAID FOR BY THE MILITARY You do not pay your own way and get reimbursed later.   Get your facts straight before answering something like that   ::)

Hi Matt,
have a read through the recruiting forum, in specific the FAQs ... http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/21101.0.html

Link to trades FAQs ... http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/17703.0.html

You'll find links to threads on all of the MOCs you mentioned, and then some. There's a ton of good info on this site, you're best off trying to find the answers to these general questions on your own as they have been answered many times before. Lurk around here for a while, you'll find there are many members here who are currently in the forces or have recently retired. Fortunately, they are kind enough to offer those who listen words of advice/encouragement/opinions and even the occasional typographic ass whoppin when needed.

good luck and all the best.
cheers.

[edit: link fix]

Pay scales, you'll be a Pte (private 1) and start getting paid as soon as you start BMQ. Good luck.

What kind of past education must you have to become an MP?
Also just something that has always concerned me is religion in the army. If anyone could clarify something for me on the issue of religion could you pm me. Ill give you the questions because i would rather not offend some people.
