hey, i just went today and made an appointment for an aptitude test, im hopin its pretty easy, i do go to university so i shouldn‘t fail or else somthings wrong here, what did u guys think?
quick questions:
when it comes to sit ups for the physical do u put ur feet under somthing or use your own weight?
also, when you do push ups are your hands like in a triangle shape?

When you do sit ups a person will hold down your feet so theey are very easy.

When you do push ups though your arms have to be right under your shoulders. Also your elbows cannot bend outwards, but must bend inwards towards your waist. It helps if when you practice for teh situps you touch your thumbs together. Also you don‘t have to go all the way down.

Hey Murray; unless your degree is in math, I‘d go online and look for examples of aptitude tests. You don‘t learn spatial ability in university either. Also, make sure you keep up with your running because you will be getting a step-test which will determine your heart-rate after work. So run, run, run...and no coffee the morning of (increases pulse) GOOD LUCK! :D

I don‘t think you can study for spatial ability... you can either do it or you can‘t...

You‘re absolutely right AC; however getting familiar with various aptitude tests will help you during CFAT in that you may recognize similar patterns during the test and be able to complete them in a more timely manner. It‘s much like crossword puzzles, after awhile, they‘re repetitious....how many times do you actually see the word ANTE in a crossword? ;)

For the push ups ... is that possible? It seems like your body would have no where to go with your hands so close together.

When I did My PT they were very adamant about having your elbows and arms PARALLEL with your body not out at 90* angles. it sucks and i almost failed on account of it but just squeezed off 20. anyhoo good luck

Put your hands almost directly beside your chest, so there is more weight centered on your forearms.

I also recommend practicing chin-ups.

It is indeed possible to do push ups with your hands beneath your shoulders. But I have to disagree with RJG. You Can have your elbows bending outwards (I don‘t think they really care...at least the evaluator never said which way my elbows have to bend. All they wanted is that your hands are beneath your shoulders and you go down low enough so the upper part of your arms are parallel to the ground).

The CFAT is pretty easy. Part I: basic vocabulary, Part II: spatial organization (visualize 3D objects), Part III: Math problem solving
I find Part I and III pretty easy...I guess I just wasn‘t very good visualizing 3D cubes...
Many people seem to be concerned about the Math. I don‘t think you have to be very good at it to do well in that section...it‘s mostly just grade 9 Math...not allowed to use a calculator though. 30 min to do 30 Math questions is actually quite a lot of time. I got 10 minutes to spare when I did that section.
