I'm always impressed at sailors and aircrew spending so long cooped up inside ships. Do sailors routinely get to go top side and spend time in the sun/outside or could they go days inside?

I'm always impressed at sailors and aircrew spending so long cooped up inside ships. Do sailors routinely get to go top side and spend time in the sun/outside or could they go days inside?

I have watched some Ops Room types go weeks without seeing sunlight, especially in a hot place like the Arabian Sea in the summer.

After I quit smoking I found I wasn't going to the uppers as much. So I try to make it a point to up at least once a day.

Submariners are a whole different breed of human.

I always loved short documentaries by the NFB. Where the CBC sucks, they tend to do wonderful things on a small budget all the time.

I particularly love the passageway scene with the officer's cabins curtains hanging out and people looking like they are walking sideways.

It brings nostalgic feelings, and I have a tear in my eyes just looking at that.
