Hi I was wondering if I could get some general information on courses for Radio Operators and Forward Air Controllers (or even if they are called that in the CF). How often are courses offered and who is usually eligible to go on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

If you are planning on going Sigs and hoping to be a FAC don't count on it.  AFAIK it is usually only Combat Arms NCOs/Officers and I think some Air Force Officers(Pilot/AEC?) who can get the FAC course.  I haven't seen anything saying a Sig can't take it, but chances are low to get course loaded

As far as what courses a Sig Op can take, theres lots. A lot of it depends on what unit you are in and how you are employed as certain units/positions require certain qualifications.

I figured it would be in the realm of the combat arms and I am planning on going in as infantry. When I said radio operator I was meaning the individual who handles the radio in an infantry platoon/section. Is there are course relating to that?

Basic Comms Course ran by the Battalion's Signals Platoon.  Or learn through OJT untill you get the Basic Comms course.

Also, the proper term would be Platoon Signaller, OC Dismounted Signaller, etc

I know of some occasions where the Pl Sig and OC dismount Sig have been Sig Ops, but usually it's always a Infantry dude.
