Rangers

I was just wondering if anyone had any information regarding the Canadian Rangers, as far as how to apply and what exactly it is that they do.
I know that they're responsible for sovereignty patrols in the northern part of the country, and I read in the paper the other day that Harper and Obama are in the works of some upgrade to the sovereignty of the two countries, which leads me to believe that the Rangers will have even more weight on their shoulders.
Any general information that you know is welcome.

Update:
If anyone is interested this is the official website for the 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group which has it's headquarters at CFB Borden and is responsible for Ontario.
