Iam thinking of re-joing the reserves. I have been out since August of 2002. I had completed BMQ, QL4 Comms, and SQ before I got out. My question is will I have to redo all of this training, or can I start from where I left off (begin my BIQ training). Iam unsure if the training I have done is still valid, although I would not see why it wouldn‘t be. Any help would be great. Thanks alot.

The recruiting system would have to do a verification of former service and request equivalencies. The equivalencies for you would be easier because you have been out for less than 5 years. Whether you would have to redo courses depends on what equivalencies have been granted. You should go ask the Recruiting Centre. Be aware that sometimes it takes longer to enrol someone with previous military service than a new person off the street.

Great. Thanks for the help. I‘ll be going down Monday to the local recruiting station to find out if I can continue with training this summer. Thanks again for your help.

Okay. I was previously in the reserves and I completed my BMQ, QL4, and SQ. I got out before finishing my BIQ maybe 2 years ago. I went into my local recruiting station about 4 months ago wanting to rejoin. They said they have to wait on my file to return from Ottawa before going any further. I have since been waiting the past 4 months for this one file to come in, and still no word. I was hoping to go away this summer and finish my BIQ, but with stand-down at my regiment coming at the end of June, and the fact I still may have to take a physical & medical over again Iam not so sure. Does anyone have any advice or tips on how I can speed this up? I can‘t understand how it can take over 4 months to get a piece of paper from Ottawa to my city. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, forgot to mention this. I had an interview with my CSM about two weeks ago and he told me I would be recommended to get back in, and that he would look into putting my name on the list for people going away for BIQ. I don‘t know if this helps in telling where Iam in the overall process. I called this morning and they said either the Unit or the Recruiting Center itself will contact me, but I feel useless just waiting for the call. Anyone have any help on what I can do, or is my only option continuing to call them and asking about it? Thanks alot.

I think you just gonna have to wait...

Last year, i try to enter as an MOC 56 paramedical officer for the regular... Because i had previous services, they had to wait for my file too. It took 3 months.

Its long because the archive are not organize by computer. they have to find it manually.

Patience... Apparently it could take years to get your file if you get out and try to get back in.

That sucks. I was hoping to go away this summer to finish BIQ. They told me when I first went in 4 months ago it would be no problem to get in before summer. I called the other day and my unit had not even contacted anyone yet about getting me back in. Also, they said because I was released under good circumstances, and because I was out for only a short period of time it may go quicker. Im really hoping I‘ll be in before the summer. I‘ll just keep calling every week and see what updates, if any I can get.

Yea that is true, a buddy of mine was in just over 10 years ago now, and he‘s waiting to get back in, he‘s been waiting for over a year now for them to dig up his file, but they keep giving him dumb excuses in the classic CFRC style.

I‘m doing the same thing, I got out 3 years ago after being in a year and a half and I‘m going to rejoin my unit in the fall. There was a long delay in processing and when I went to inquire at the recruiting office they told me they were waiting on some paperwork from Ottawa. The reason for the delay was that my file was appearently between my unit and NDHQ archives so it was a little hard to track down being "en route" so to speak. Now my only hurdle is from Borden where appearently my medical file has become invisible but I‘m going to bug some people tomorrow to try and get the ball rolling again.
