Rebadging

Hey guys, feel free to move the thread if needed.
So me and my wife are thinking we need a drastic change. Right now i work at cfb valcartier and i would like to go to edmonton, so i wanted to know how rebadging works (i'm armoured btw). Would a better bet be asking a posting instead? If anyone has done this recently it would be cool to know if rebadges are hard to get, if they are looked upon negatively/positively, and how long i should expect the process to take.

It is easy.....Next time you fill out your three posting preferences, list Edmonton at the top.  Then when you see the Career Manager, tell him you would like to go to Edmonton.  You may want to also back that up with a memo through your Chain of Command.  It is not impossible.  In the new millennium, we got twenty 12 RBC transferred into the RCD.  If you want to improve your English, list it as a reason you want to go to the Strats.

Another option is to get posted to the Armour School and then write a memo to the RSM of the School asking for a change of Regimental Affiliation.  Then you will be posted out to that Regiment, when your time at the School is up.....if ever..... >

Hey thanks for the quick reply. My only problem is that last time the career manager came by i was told it's for corporals and up. i'm still a trooper so will that be a problem? Otherwise i'm not too knowledgeable about career managers. Do they only come around every so often or is there always one available for issues like this? Another question i have is since this would be 100% voluntary would the move be out of pocket or would brookfields sill take care of it?

Career Manager comes once a year.

You can still write a memo up and request a change of Regimental Affiliation and Posting.  It will NOT be out of pocket.

That would definitely help with the higher cost of living but it also says Valcartier is 117$ and i don't think i've ever noticed more than 25 or 35$ (not too sure) get deposited for pld.

PLD is a taxable allowance, and Quebec has the highest provincial income taxes in the country.

Thanks for the clarification on PLD and right now im on leave but i will take care of this as soon as i get back to work. And thanks PPCLI guy, ill keep you in mind if i ever have any problems i really appreciate the offer for help.

I think it is highly unlikely that the CM will use up one of his cost moves to move a Pte across the country.  What is the guarantee that you're going to stay in after your next contract is up?  That'll be his point of view.
I had a couple Ptes in my company in 3 RCR that asked for rebadges & postings out west a few years ago, and they didn't pan out.
Rebadging doesn't hurt when you get to the new regt either.  I know of several RCR NCO's that switched over to the Patricias - at least one made it to MWO.  If you were a good soldier and worker in the first unit, you'll probably be a good soldier and worker in the new one - and that's what counts.

Keep in mind that alrhough the pld may be more due to the housing cost i'm pretty sure you won't end up with more money in your pocket.
