Hey, i've got my sq coming up shortly and the joining instructions i was given was a basic kit guide that included absolutely everything, could anyone here who has taken sq in meaford please tell me if i need to bring both sleeping bags,(inner and outer) and parka, winter coat and pants etc.. im not sure how much room for kit there i'll need but im scared of not bringing everything, but also of having too much to carry around etc. it's a summer course i couldnt imagine why i would need my parka and winter kit etc =]  they also say somthing about a "trunk locker", im very unsure on what this is. if its the baracks box shouldnt they have one there for me? or should i try and get one from ASU i was under the impression they only give them out to those who are going overseas...thats what they told me anyway.

thanks for any information anyone could give me!

Please use the search function!!  Also, please use more punctuation and capitalization!

You could always check with you unit as well.

I just finished my SQ so I'm sure I can be of help.

It is a though choice for bringing 1 or 2 sleeping bags. It didn't get all that warm on my SQ but when it was around 0C, one sleeping bag was good enough so I'm sure 1 will be fine for you.

I would bring your cadpat winter jacket, the mornings are always cold. You will love that you brought your jacket sitting in those trenches during the night. I would bring my fleece bottoms and tops too. Other then that I wouldn't bring any more "winter" kit.

Always carry extra socks in the field. They are great to have.

Go to your Unit and get the JOINING INSTRUCTIONS, and then read carefully what the KIT LIST is for the Summer Courses.  DO NOT make the mistake of reading a list for a WINTER Course.  If you are told on the Joining Instructions to bring certain Kit; then you are advised to do so, as you will be checked and Inspected for this Kit.  If you do not have it, and you have been issued it (they will know what you have been issued by looking into your Docs) you will have just set yourself up for a "Shitty Chitty" and have started off on a bad note.  You are required to have this kit for a reason.

George is right on the money. Get the joining instructions with the kit list, and show up with exactly what it says. The joining instructions are what you should be referring to prior to showing up in Meaford- on Monday I would guess? One of the first thigns we will be doing is conducting a 100% kit check with each candidate to ensure you have what you are supposed to have so we can remedy deficiences as quickly as possible. If it's on the kit list, bring it. If you bring stuff we end up telling you you don't need, stick it back in your car, or just keep it packed up, and if you get a weekend off you can bring it home.
