Patrick Cain, who is probably the author of the articles you read,
posted the roll on the mailing list. In no particular order, the
following are the "non-viable" units:
1. 33 FES41 CBG
2. 6 Int Coy41 CBG
3. 2 Int Pl33 CBG
4. SALH41 CBG
5. KOCR41 CBG
6. 1 RCA36 CBG
7. 3 RCA37 CBG
8. 20 RCA41 CBG
9. 8 FER41 CBG
10. QOR32 CBG
11. RRofC32 CBG
12. LincWeldR31 CBG
13. 1 RNBR37 CBG
14. 2 RNBR37 CBG
15. RWpgR38 CBG
16. NSaskR38 CBG
17. RRegRfls38 CBG
18. LEdmR 41 CBG
19. QOCHC38 CBG
20. Calg H41 CBG
21. 18 Svc Bn38 CBG
22. 15 Med Coy41 CBG
23. 26 Svc Bn33 CBG
24. 12 Svc Bn39 CBG
25. 14 Svc Bn41 CBG
26. 15 Svc Bn41 CBG
27. 22 Svc Bn31 CBG
28. 23 Svc Bn31 CBG
29. 11 Svc Bn39 CBG
30. 18 ADR41 CBG
31. 12 Med Coy39 CBG
32. 16 Med Coy38 CBG
33. 18 Med Coy38 CBG
34. 2 RNfldR37 CBG
35. 21 Svc Bn31 CBG
36. 35 Svc Bn36 CBG
Now what importance should one attach to this information? Probably
not too much. The final viability score is supposed to be determined
this November, and not all areas applied the scoring criteria equally
rigorously the playing field was far from level last year. The
scores which produced the above list must have originated from an
interim evaluation perhaps last November. All of these units
would‘ve been aware of the warning signs indicated by their placement
on this list and presumably commanding officers have taken action to
correct deficiencies.
What can the individual soldier do to help?
1 Successfully complete Warrior IBTS by August 30 in order to be
counted in the unit‘s Warrior stats for 1998-99. Units are being
graded on the percentage of all ranks who complete Warrior.
2 Either fill a summer tasking allocated to the unit, or nag a buddy
into doing so. Units are being graded on the percentage of their
assigned taskings which they fill.
3 Make maximum effort to attend training and meet standards over
the next couple of years even after the viability study is completed
this November. It‘s quite possible that units will continue to be
evaluated as the army decides how it intends to achieve restructure.
