Hi,

I joined army reserve in Montreal and got my temporary military card 3 weeks ago from my reserve unit. The clerk told me I will get a call within 2 weeks to start training on Tuesday nights and weekends. It has been almost 4 weeks, I still did not hear back. I am wondering how long does it take from the day we sign-in to the day we start to go to the unit?

I will call them next Tuesday, I just want to know what's the norm beforehand.

By the way, I joined as infantry officer.

Thanks.

If you've been sworn in, you start parading with the unit right away. If you don't have uniforms yet, dress nicely but something comfortable that you can easily move and work in, wear a watch and bring pen and paper.

As redcap stated, go show up.

Most units have a PAT platoon for people in your position. No training, no history, no idea what they are doing.

In short it is essentially some SNCO's or Officers with...no real purpose... mentoring and assisting new troops in preparing for their basic courses.

Show up to your unit, speak with someone (clerk most likely) and find out who is in your chain of command, than contact that person and ask them when they want you in and how they want you dressed. I can't imagine it would be much longer until you get kitted out. I have had some members just join my unit and they were kitted out within a month and they were parading with the training platoon within a week of being sworn in.
