I have a few questions about reserves, their arrangements with current employer, salaries and benefits etc. Perhaps easier to just stop by recruiting office... Anyways, I have a serious job, something I cannot miss a day, unless my absence is arranged with a substitute. I wonder if it is worth at all to get into reserves. I remember my fiasco with volunteer firefighting training, I kept on missing training nights due to work schedule. I work irregular shift pattern. Fire departmnet promised to keep up but it is not easy, they cannot light up vehicle and let me put it out just on any day. Stuff like that kept on happening, until I was simply asked to return the gear.  I wonder if forces have enough influence to make my employer to work me around training nights. Any input is highly appreciated.

Don't bother visiting your local CFRC.  Rather, contact a Reserve Unit in your local area and find out when they are available and or parading.  Then pay them a visit and speak with one of the Reserve Unit Recruiters.  They will be able to answer all your questions regarding joining the Reserves!

Good luck.

Find a Reserve Unit (follow the tabs after inputting your City location)  --->  http://www.forces.ca/en/centres/findarecruiter-110
