What do you think the chances of a reservist getting on JTF2 and what do you think about a reservist in JTF2?

Ubique, I'd try doing a search on this board; there's almost certainly a couple of dozen posts on this subject here already, and stirring it up again may not be the thing you want to do without some reasearch.

Depends if he makes the criteria and does well on the 6 day (or 7 day now) Gtes selected for SOAC and passes...

There are reservists at the Hill.

Thank you to everyone who tells me that there are items on this. Although I am new to this forum I am intelligent enough to at least do a little research. Everything I found was about the standards and what reservists needed. If you do find a post that has the same likeness to mine please feel free to sh*t on on my parade. But if not I would like some honest discussion about this topic. Thank you for taking the time to let me know.

But not smart enough to state up front that you had done a search... ;)

It should be given that someone would use the facilities that are given to us to use. Therefore I never stated something that should be obvious. But I do understand that some don't use it. Thanks

I think that there is no problem with reservists being on it. I have met reservists who are on the j team but have not asked them questions (don't ask don't tell) but do you think that a regforce person would get more preference than a reservist. If the reservist can perform at par with the others it shouldn't matter but we all know what life is like.

Ok once again. Thank you for pointing that out. But as I stated I did look and there was nothing that really talked about this topic the only that  is really in there now is mine. Thanks again

My unit has turned out several soldiers who have gone onto the JTF2 (one just returned within the year)...

Not much to discuss really, it isnt a rare thing. If you meet the standards and perform well, then I wouldnt think a Reg would hold sway over a Reservist.

Hello,

Forgive my ignorance as I am only just finishing up the recruiting process. But reservists are by nature a part time branch of the military. Dividing their (probably stretched) time between their civilian life and DND. Now by admitting part time (All  be it valuable) member to this extremely elite division I am assuming that they are going in at that point as a full time member of CF. However, if they are not operating in a "full time" capacity w/ JTF2 my opinion is that the full time applicant should be given preference. This is my logic behind the statement; these units like many other kinds in the military, and civi street operate as a team or family. Having a member of that "family" for whatever reason good or bad  not give the team their undivided attention (while working) would be (in my humble opinion) detrimental to that said team. Reservist are now aloud to apply for SAR...Am I correct to assume if accepted they are then full time members. If so I have no problem with it, and I am sure they have eared every right to be there (JTF2/SAR).

The little I know about JTF2 is what I have previously stated. Having said that, if this is not how they operate (team/family) please disregard.

Ubique RCA,

There is not much to discuss. The criteria is the same for Reg or Res. Go to your Chain of Command to get started, do the necessary paperwork, go to selection, get accepted, your in. Reg or Res, there's nothing else to tell.

BTW,

I'm not doing anyone's work for them, but, I'll guarantee there's threads there on Res going to JTF.

I'd say that an Army Reserve Infantry Sgt who is a big city SWAT/ETF cop wouild have an edge over a Reg F Infantry Sgt.  But maybe not....

Conversely, a Reg F Pathfinder qualified MCpl would hold sway over a four year no-tour DP2A qualified Reserve Infantry MCpl.  Possibly not...

That's why there's a selection process!  Some things (and some people) are not what they appear to be on the outside.

Wanna find out for yourself?  Try it out!  It's all about the best person for the job.

When a Reservist is accepted he is full time till he completes his tour with them. As for anything else in your post. I'm not touching it. Try doing some reading before forming, and stating, opinions on things like this.

Please, get into the military before giving us your opinion on military life.

Other than that, the question has been answered.
