RIP Dick Belgrove

Another sad piece of news via the Sapper Net:

I have just received a call from Scotty Nicholson who telephoned to tell me that R.G. (Dick) Belgrove passed away in Chilliwack this morning (5 Sept.). Dick began his long military career as  a 6th Intake Spr/App.
Dick had been suffering with cancer and I am so glad I got to see him last summer.
I have no other details.


Dicky was the first (of a few) men to charge me in my career.  He was an old school hard but fair SSM, and it was my privilege to serve with him.

Condolences to the family. A big part of the early 80's 1 CER.

He was fair, wasn't he? I don't ever really recall him holding a grudge either. I remember some of the Pk Tp guys angling to be his driver on the roadmove back to Chilliwack. They were flat broke and couldn't afford a pack of cigarettes, knowing full well that Dick was good for it during those two days. That and he had a 5/4.
