I know Rush doesnt have alot of Canadian fans but his US audience is 20m. There was a flap last week where Rush talked about phony soldiers - soldiers who posed as soldiers to attack the war in Iraq. While the democrats in the Senate regulalry disrespect the men and women in uniform Harry Reid did arise to defense of the phony soldiers. He attacked Rush from the floor of the Senate and sent a letter signed by 41 Senators [democrat] to the CEO of the company that airs his show. Rush decided that since the democrats dont willingly support the troops he decided to auction the letter on eBay. He also said he would match the winning bid which will go to support children of Marines and federal LEO's killed in the line of duty. The auction ends in an hour.Right now its at $ 2.1m

What the uproar (from Rush's side) is about: they picked a small sound bite and gave it a meaning the actual context does not give it. To then write a letter condemning their own invented interpretation of what Rush said based on this small sound bite shows either major dishonestly or very minor intelligence for those who signed it.

I was a huge Rush fan right up until his drug troubles.  I haven't listened to him since then but he seems to be as popular as ever.

Now the problem as described was 'soldiers posing as soldiers to attack the war in Iraq'.  I don't get it.  Were the phony soldiers really civilians posing as soldiers or what?  And what exactly was the Democratic Senate caucus defending; dissent or civilians posing in uniform?

I'm sure there must be more to this.

Dan.

PS:  The winning bid at 1300 hours EDT today was $2,100,100.00 US!

The democrats only care if its dissent against the war. Here's Reid spinning today on the floor of the Senate.

Reid is sure trying to spin this as a positive ..........for himself and his other cronies.

Let's see if it pays out first. This wouldn't be the first astronomical bid on EBay that turned out to be bogus. It'll be great, for a great cause, if it does, but I'm not holding my breath. The winner has something like 90 some odd successful bids. I find it hard to believe someone with that kind of money spends a lot of time on EBay, but, who knows. Maybe some excentric old lady that has a mattress full of cash and truly believes in the cause and benifits to it.

Mrs Casey runs the Casey Foundation - they are good for the money. ;)
