Where can one find the list of members of the Ruxted Group?  The profile is not very revealing.

Looking at your profile, it is due to such similar concerns that the profile of this Group is also presented as it is.

In anticipation of another question, the credentials of the individual members of this Group are well know by each of the other members of the Group.

Hi Pikepusher,

From http://ruxted.ca/includes/about.php:

The Ruxted Group was formed, in 2005, by a group of people with an interest, knowledge and experience in military matters and in associated defence and foreign policy issues.

Still not very helpful, but I believe the group's intent is to keep it's membership list private.

Rumour has it they're a couple of perennial student/mo' bums living out of a pickup truck on the UofT campus, subsisting on as much Class "A" pay as they can get.  Why do you ask?

Sorry, no idea who "Pike" was or is, and I have not read any posts by or concerning him.  I am me, and what you see is what you get.

A word on profiles.  As George Wallace has pointed out, mine is as sketchy as the Ruxted Group's.  It is sketchy because, as an individual, I would like what I post to be considered on its own merits, without reference to putative authority of rank or person, and certainly without exposure to ad hominem attack (as in "That ... ? What would he know.")

My curiosity about the members of the Ruxted Group is of another order.  They are posting here and elsewhere as an interest/advocacy group, and the identity of the members is relevant to show where they are coming from beyond mission statements.  It's not a big deal, but it would be nice to know who is behind the collective identity. (I can play with Ted Ruxpin's name and come up with "Ruxted,"  so another identity for either Ted or the Ruxted Group might be in order.)

You could always email them and ask?

The Ruxted Group consists of an informed group of stakeholders who are knowledgeable in the profession of arms, Canadian National Defence policy and related issues.  Members are free to identify themselves if they want, but we protect our members' profiles for the same reason as you protect your profile.

If you do have questions you can visit our site at Ruxted.ca. While you are there, feel free to read our work and judge our opinions on thier own merits.

. . . oh yes; you may find that your play on names is not on the mark.

Pikepusher isn't Pike (just a bad coincidence of names)

Pikepushers post date back too far and with enough
information to see valid are a ret'd soldier.

Although it is clearly pro-defence, the comments from the group seem well considered vice "emotional."  While I don't necessarily agree with everything Ruxted publishes, I do think the Canadian press and politicians should give some heed to its words.  Of course, that would be a cold day in hell....  I say keep up the good work whoever they are. :salute:  They're much better than the editors of the Star family of papers who love to add those dumb comments to every letter to the editor...  ::)

You ask for your own comments to be taken at face value.  Would not the Ruxted editorials be deserving of the same consideration?

I've read through the Ruxted Articles at http://ruxted.ca/, and I can say that whoever he/she/they are, they do seem to keep emotions out of it along with the politics. And that I like, and so I read.
