I'm not sure if this is the correct sub-forum to post this so feel free to move it if it's not, with my apologies.  I'd like to drive down to one of the overpasses to pay our respects to Pte. Patrick Lormand this week.  I know the ramp ceremony was held last night but how do people find out when the repatriation ceremony and subsequent drive to Toronto take place?  I'm about a 4 hr drive from Trenton and I would likely need to make plans to stay overnight with relatives in Kingston (travelling with a toddler) so I'm hoping for as much notice as possible to plan accordingly.

I find that this site always has details on all the repatriations:

For the upcoming repatriation - http://www.newsdurhamregion.com/article/135409

DND doesn't usually confirm timings until the day before arrival.

Having said that it usually takes 2 days from the time they leave KAF.  Our last soldier, Pte. Patrick Lormand will probably arrive on Wed Sept, 16, 2009 at 2pm.

Approximate timings for the procession:

The repatriation ceremony begins at 2pm

The procession leaves Trenton at approx. 2:45

Reaches Colburne Approx. 3:05.

Graffton Approx 3:15

Cobourg at approx 3:30

Port Hope at approx 3:40

Oshawa Approx 4:15

Toronto approx 4:45

**Just remember, the timings can go anywhere to a half hour before to a few hours after the approximate timings. There are a lot of different factors that can change the timings even when the plane arrives in Trenton at the correct time**

So, if you check the DND website you will your confirmation on timings.

Hope this helps,

Robin

Thanks for all the information.  Sounds like it is better to drive there the day of and plan to stay overnight if things are delayed.  I'm guessing there is a greater likelihood of a delay rather than an early arrival.

Thanks again :)

I'd say a next-to-nil chance of an early arrival - it's too easy to fix that by flying in circles for a few minutes, I would imagine.  The majority of the time, they'll be punctual.
