today i called the recruiting centre to find out when i was going to update my interview,seeings how i dont think it went so well because the counsellor didnt like me. and they said i couldnt update my physical or interview until i got a job offering, but whats the chance of getting an offering if the guy didnt like me? is there anything i can do go to a different recruiting place? apply for another battle group, i applied for ppcli. i need this really bad. i shouldnt have been so honest with the guy. then he got mad and said i knew nothing about soldiers... he asked what a soldier is or what they do... that being a general question i gave him a general answer, i told him they were the backbone of the military, they closed in and conquered. i didnt know what he wanted me to say... then he said that i knew nothing about them and that they used guns and fieldcraft.. i was under the impression that was to be expected. so i guess my chance of being picked is slim to non?

You just got someone who was in a bad mood, dont worry about it. You have to pass the physical then the PT test first, then they will set you up for your interview, it could take time so be patient. It does not hurt to go there instead of calling, people are less app to be mean spirited to you in person than the phone.

Imagine that, you knew nothing about the military. Yet you‘va applied and you‘re prepared to learn. Checked your profile, you‘re just a kid of what 20? Jesus, I know a few guys with some years in the CF who still haven‘t a clue as to what a "soldier" does. They‘re techs in there particular trades, does that make them less effective in their jobs?

If you want this as badly as you say you do, then get in the game. This is your life, your career. Not some REMF‘s @ CFRC. By the way, the guy works at CFRC, either he‘s pissed that he isn‘t a soldier anymore or he never really was (Judgement on my part, never met the guy, so I‘m making an assumption).

As Trap says, go in there and talk to someone. If they are mean, don‘t allow it too effect you, this won‘t be the first for you. Tough it out, jump through the hoops. You‘ll be fine, but it may take time.

thanks for the replies. i finished my pt and apt test on the same day as the interview with him. i think he got mad when i told him two of my friends were in the marines and they told me a fair amount of info on what to expect to go through, one of my friends got a silver star in iraq and hes only 19 and the other one got purple heart. so i told him i probably knew a little more about what to expect than the average person. and i think he thought i was being a smart ***, so he decided to cut me down. but i wasnt trying to be anyways. they called me a few weeks later and said i would have to wait for april to come, until they did anymore merit listing. so im on the list i guess. im just worried that, i wont be picked. and until im picked he said i wouldnt be able to update my physical or interview, so really my chances arnt that good at all now. im sorta disapointed. i wanted to use this oportunity to change my life. lots of my friends grew up and became drug dealers or they just dont have a clue i stayed off that path. and now i want to get away from this town and start a new life and i was gonna use the army as that escape. its been three months now. how long do most people wait to get in... and if possible should i apply for anothe rbattle group for faster process?

All good advice....

and remember...BEFORE you sign on the dotted line, you are a soldier FIRST. Your trade will come second. Are you married, in a serious relationship? Things are going to change and move in a hurry...BT, Trade Schools, deployments etc...not a problem if you‘re single...if not, make sure you AND your significant other knows what‘s in store as soon as the "ink dries" at the recruitment office!!

It depends on what trade are u going to get in, and reg or rev.. for me, I applied since Sept and... I just finished my interview..besides, the recuiter said, the secrity check may take for a year... I am thinking.. "what the ****!" So try to relex and wait

Again guys...I must point out security checks shouldn‘t take that long unless you are a newly landed immagrant. I think the recriuter is just saying a blanket answer just to be on the safe side.

Kinda like Scotty on Star Trek. Says it‘ll take days, but he‘ll have it done in a couple of hours. Miracle worker!

There‘s no point in trying to join another unit, the Forces cant hire until the new fiscal year, thus cant hire in any infantry unit (RCR, PPCLI, Vandoos). So just wait till they get the money to start hiring. Also the guy interviewing you may have been trying to cut you down, even if you weren‘t being smart, but he likely wont book your appointments till you get the offer because the PT test and the interview are only good for six months and dont want to waste your time, or theirs if they have to redo it if you dont get accepted until July.

ya.im not really all that worried about it. its only been 3 months my friend thats in ppcli said it took him 6 months to be picked off the merrit list so i should still be on track. as for the officer the more i think about it the more i think he was just testing me. because he asked me some questions and i said i was pretty easy to get along with and that im pretty cool under pressure it takes alot to get under my skin. i think he was just trying to see how much it took to get under my skin. after the interview he said he would bump my file up.
