Hey all!  Just thought I would throw this video out to help promote my town for the aspects that everyone comes for but no one talks about.  They don't call us Sin City North for no reason.  >:D
Strangely, I don't recall this one making it to network TV.

Next big party weekend is American Thanksgiving.  The biggest party night of the year is Wednesday November 22, since most people don't do the dinner thing until the Sunday, but it is a four day weekend for them.
So come on down, unless you are a jerk!  ;D

Hey Zipperhead-cop
Do you happen to know where the opening scenes of this video were shot
I spent my formative years in that fine little city, cruising Tecumseh ave. friday nights, sunday
beach parties at Point Peelee, a great place to grow up,and the opening scenes of this video
look familiar but I cant quite place the local.
                                        Regards

I'm not too familiar with the University of Windsor campus, but it does look kind of like sports building at the University of Western Ontario (can't remember the name of the building as I did the "one year program" back in 88-89  :P)

The building where that kid is standing infront of is Dillan Hall, University of Windsor campus. Speaking as a resident of Windsor; it's one of those citys that are fun to visit, not to permanently live in. But it was a good attempt at promoting our city. The bars get quite boring fast and they're only cheap Monday to Thursdays. As for cigar shops; they're all over the downtown area, just picked up a few stoggies the other day (cubans of course). There are a few good strip clubs, if thats what one is into, look out for their shuttle vans in the downtown area and you can score some free passes. The casino is nice I guess if you feel like donating money. Thx for the vid zipperhead :)

Now, there was a time when I would agree with that.  When I first started coming here in 1998 I hated the city.  No good restaurants, not too nice to look at.  Now that I have lived here for 14 years I have come to see the good things that the city has.  By and large the people here are all pretty nice.  Normal, straight shooters (if you can get past the union-mindedness sometimes) who don't get hung up on politically correct crap.  We have access to a major American urban area (believe it or not Detroit isn't that bad and the surrounding areas have some great stuff.  Flying out of Detroit Metro is generally $100 to $250 cheaper than out of Pearson)
Housing is also really cheap as compared to other same sized urban areas in southern Ontario.  The house I have with the surrounding property would easily be worth an extra $175,000 if it was in Toronto.  Since the Windsor Casino opened there has been a dramatic increase in the retail and service industry here.  Short of getting an Ikea (apparently the benchmark of being truly cosmopolitan  ??? ) we have everything that you could want.  Even if I could get a free house in the GTA or other decent sized city I would stay here.  The place grows on you.
Although the drivers here really are a bunch of clods.  We have the highest insurance rates in Ontario for a reason; much motor vehicle operation with rectal/cranial inversion.  :P

The place grows on you...

Just like the tumours and malignant skin cancers all the truck pollution and tasty Detroilet heavy industry cause. :D And the asthma. And... well, like Larry the Cable Guy says, I could go on all day here. On the plus side, that pollution blanket keeps the temp a bit toastier than any other part of the country bar Van/Vic. It's nice for all the soon to be homeless CAW highschool dropouts who thought they could rob the Big Three blind in perpituity, and the crackies helping consume or move Detroit's largest conumer product.

But I'm the eternally chipper, optimist type. 8)

I'v been in this city for almost 20 years; it has it's goods and it's bads. For those from Michigan a night out in Windsor will cost you alot less than Toronto (hotels, restuarants & bars). In Past couple years I'v come to the realization that I have no future in this automotive blue collar city.

Ahh, cancer-schmancer.  They'll have cure for it soon.
And every city has it's batch of Gomers that have an overinflated sense of entitlement.  Ours just happen to have been paid a beejeezuz load more than most for what they had been doing.  Job security for me, though  ;)

Amen! I live in South Windsor, and take EC Row out to Tecumseh on most days, and it's ridiculous! Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed, I've always thought Windsor was bad for drivers, but was unsure whether all cities could possibly be that bad... It's perfect training for infantry or fighter pilots, having to know who's where and exactly what's going on at all times!
